The HD2 is highest speced Windows Mobile device ever and is very popular in Europe. HTC brought the device to the USA with T-Mobile with a subsidized price of only $200. A big improvement over other WM devices is the amazing content partnerships with Barnes & Noble, BlockBuster, and Slacker. You won’t be looking all over for content on this 1 GHz Snapdragon device with its 16GB microSD card. You can even enjoy Guitar Hero on the device.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that Microsoft finally made their Windows Mobile 7 plans public at MWC this morning. The name of their next generation devices is Windows Phone 7 Series. Microsoft started naming their device Windows Phones last year in a rather ineffective campaign that hasn’t yet seemed to stick with consumers. By stating Windows Phone 7 as a series it gives us the impression that we will see multiple types of devices and platforms designed for a number of people. The press release is quite vague about what to expect in this next generation hardware, but we will see Xbox LIVE games, Zune music and video, and a dedicated Bing button on future devices. The experiences of Windows Phone 7 Series are organized around Windows Phone hubs that will bring you different content, applications and services.

T-Mobile launched the myTouch 3G as its second Google Android device in early 2009 and it was a sleek, solid device. The Fender Limited Edition improves a bit with a standard 3.5mm headset jack, double the memory for application storage, and large capacity 16GB microSD card. There are a few music focused applications, along with free songs from popular artists, in a device with Fender guitar sunburst highlights.

I recently purchased a Verizon Wireless MiFi and then saw that Sprint rolled out a 4G WiMAX network in my local area. I said I wanted a MiFi-like device to access this network and Sprint now has such a device available with their Overdrive device from Sierra Wireless. Sprint also lowered the price to $59.99 per month and if the 4G connection is not available you bounce back to a strong 3G connection. Observed download speeds were easily twice as fast as that seen on the Verizon Wireless MiFi so this looks to be the king of high speed wireless connectivity.

Aliph released their latest Jawbone headset, the ICON, that builds on their Bluetooth voice technology with a software platform for customization and personalization. The Nokia N900 is now available from various US retailers and after two full months of using a loaner device I just purchased my own. This latest Linux-based device has a new version of the Maemo OS and integrates a cellular radio. You will find some aspects of S60 in the N900, along with a rather unique user interface and extremely powerful Mozilla-based web browser. Apps are still early in development, but with the browser you can do most everything you need to do with dedicated apps.

One of the unique features that Barnes & Noble promised for the B&N nook was the retail store experiences. With the nook 1.1.0 update nook owners now have access to store specific content, including short ebooks and coupon offerings. The first coupon to appear is for a free cookie each time you show the barista your nook and the coupon ($1.95 priced cookie).

One of the key differentiations between the B&N nook and other ebook readers is the ability to lend books to your friends for a period of up to 14 days. The LendMe capability is in beta and I had the chance to test it out with my nook. Lending and receiving loaned books is simple and easy from your device.

There hasn’t been a lot of excitement in the Windows Mobile space for quite some time, but the HTC HD2 pushes the limits of the OS with a capacitive display, multi-touch support, Windows Mobile 6.5 improvements and more. The device’s main distinguishing feature is the large 4.3 inch 800×480 pixel resolution display and slim form factor.
