I was lucky enough to be able to attend the T-Mobile/Google launch event for the T-Mobile G1 and took a few photos of the hardware and various screens on the device.

The TSA has started a new program that allows compliant laptop bags to pass through the X-ray security system without being removed from the bag. These bags should be popular with frequent travelers and so far the TSA seems to be accepting of compliant bags.

HTC kicked off the customization of Windows Mobile to a new level with the HTC Touch Diamond and now Samsung looks to throw their hat in the ring with the Samsung OMNIA (SGH-i900). The OMNIA brings a large display and a 5 megapixel to Windows Mobile that finally lets WM compete with Nokia in the camera phone department. Check out some unboxing and device images for the OMNIA I purchased in Singapore.

Palm just recently launched the Treo 800w touch-screen Windows Mobile 6.1 device, but quickly follows it up with the Treo Pro that has a definite HTC look and feel. This is the slimmest Treo yet and still includes WiFi, Bluetooth, HSDPA, GPS, and a large capacity battery. Can Palm continue to survive with devices like the Treo Pro? Take a look at these photos and check out my review to help you make a decision.

Astraware has been developing games for the Palm and Windows Mobile operating systems for several years and they are famous for their high quality and enjoyable games. I was pleased to see them launch an iPhone application that takes advantage of the accelerometers in the device and think you may enjoy this car racing game as well.

MWg is a new player in the mobile market, but they have years of experience as they were previously known as O2 Asia. Expansys purchased O2 Asia and is launching a new brand of Windows Mobile device. The Zinc II runs WM 6.1 Professional, has quad-band GSM, and tri-band HSDPA/UMTS, but it is priced around US$750 so that may price it out of contention with some other new devices.

The Palm Treo line of devices has been quite popular for years, but the Palm faithful have been asking for WiFi for a couple of years without success. The new Palm Treo 800w from Sprint is the first Treo to sport WiFi and GPS, thanks in part to the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system it runs on.

Nokia created the Eseries devices to appeal to the enterprise/business user and has both QWERTY and standard phone form factor devices. The QWERTY devices have evolved from the chunky and wide E61 to the slimmer E61i and now to the even slimmer Nokia E71. The E71 is almost exactly the same size as the iPhone with a focus on messaging and creation, rather than media consumption. It is an extremely classy, well constructed, and beautiful device that may appeal to those outside the enterprise market.

The Samsung Blackjack II has been out for a few months, but will soon be getting an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1. I had a chance to use this cool device with the latest operating system and find it to be a very solid and responsive Smartphone.

HP used to have the greatest Pocket PC devices, but it has been a while since they had some high quality devices. The new HP iPAQ 910 Business Messenger is the new high end device that packs all the wireless features you want in a form factor similar to a BlackBerry Curve and Motorola Q9.

I took 45 screenshots of the HTC Touch Diamond that include most all of the features that are new on this Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device. You can see the TouchFLO 3D, new applications, and settings in these screenshots. Check out my videos to see more of the device in action too.

The Nokia N82 continues to extend the line of Nseries devices with another innovation, the Xenon flash. The N82 has all the latest wireless connectivity options, with the exception of the North American 3G networks. The 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics takes very good photos and 30 fps video. The N82 is available now in the U.S. from the Nokia site as an unlocked device for US$564.
