There are over 65,000 tablet applications available for the Apple iPad. As you can see in this screenshot gallery there are some compelling apps that have me loving my iPad 2 more every day.

Dell used to make some fantastic PDAs, but then had a rough bit of luck with smartphones. They then released the Dell Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 device, my personal favorite, and followed up with the similar Dell Venue Android device.

Sprint and HTC are getting ready to release the first CDMA Windows Phone 7 device. The hardware is quite nice and the slide-out QWERTY keyboard is one of the best ever on a phone, unfortunately the operating system does not really support these types of keyboards.

HTC has been making 4.3 inch display devices for quite some time and the latest model feels great in your hand with an aluminum unibody construction. AT&T is finally getting into the Android game with good devices and $100 for the Inspire 4G is a great price.

The Dell Venue Pro is the best Windows Phone 7 device available and with a 32GB microSD card mod it becomes even better. The device is unique with a 4.1 inch AMOLED display and portrait QWERTY keyboard.

The next Android tablet for T-Mobile is launching soon as the Dell Streak 7. While the Streak 7 has an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and HSPA+ 21 Mbps support, the low resolution display makes it a device to skip as better devices are available now or coming soon.

If you want to talk on the phone while in your car then you need a headset or speakerphone and Motorola has a new one to check out called the Motorola Roadster. If you have an Android 2.2 device, then you will also get advanced features such as audible incoming text messages and the ability to respond via voice-to-text.

The Apple iPad can be a very useful work device and with the latest crop of Office capable applications you can possibly leave the laptop behind. In addition to Apple’s iWork suite, the Mobile Gadgeteer blog post includes a video walk through Documents To Go, Office2 HD, and Quickoffice.

The competition to the iWork suite of software is coming out hard and fast and it looks like Quickoffice was able to add the functionality of Documents To Go with the eye candy and user interface elements of iWork. IMHO, it is a steal at the $10 introductory price and highly recommended.

Google is starting to include more Exchange ActiveSync capability in the Android platform while HTC has been providing support in HTC Sense for quite some time. I still find that 3rd party apps fill a need for advanced Exchange functionality. DataViz just released an updated RoadSync client with support for Task syncing.

Quickoffice has been providing the viewer software on Google Android devices for some time and now has released their full editing and document creation application for Android 2.x devices. The software is the first to also offer cloud storage access capability while the editing features are still fairly basic.

Dedicated ebook readers have been around for a couple of years and now we are seeing the price drop into the range than more people will find attractive. Kobo did an excellent job with the eReader device in most respects and the eInk reading experience is quite good. There could be some improvements made to the ebook management software on the device, but reading is a pleasure.
