T-Mobile was the first US carrier to launch a Google Android device last Fall with the T-Mobile G1. HTC and T-Mobile partnered again to bring us the new myTouch 3G that offers a refined piece of hardware targeted to a custom user experience. The intent of the myTouch 3G is to make it an extension of yourself and with the powerful and open Google Android operating system this is made possible. The myTouch 3G launches on 5 August.

Verizon Wireless customers have been waiting patiently for this device that brings a world capable (GSM and CDMA) new full featured smartphone to the carrier. The RIM BlackBerry Tour 9630 has an excellent keyboard (maybe the best in the current RIM lineup) that mixes the Bold and Curve 8900 into one slick keyboard. You will also find a 3.2 megapixel camera, 480×360 pixel screen, integrated GPS, and more.

Voice guided navigation has been missing from the Apple iPhone since the first device rolled out in 2006. With the 3.0 OS update we now have the capability for this and TeleNav and AT&T were one of the first to provide this service. TeleNav has mobile clients on a number of carriers and devices and their iPhone client is quite full featured with the ability to send destinations to your account from the Internet. Traffic updates and up-to-date maps are provided via the wireless data networks.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is a very refined version of its extremely popular slider QWERTY phone design. Nokia too a few cues from the folks at HTC and is rolling out their first QWERTY slider S60 device right now. Take a look at some comparison shots of these two and their keyboards.

Sprint and Palm launched the new WebOS-based Pre smartphone one week ago and I have spent many hours using it since launch day. There are several pros and cons with the device and service and the verdict is still out on whether it stays or goes. The device is not earth shattering, but it is a very compelling product that has many Palm fans excited and energized to see Palm succeed.

HTC continues to develop slider form factor Windows Mobile touch screen devices for the mobile professional who needs it all. The device packs in all the latest wireless features, a solid QWERTY keyboard, and much more in a rather large package. This device will also be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5, but HTC made some of their own improvements as well that take it to the next level.

There is no native Office viewer in the Android OS, but DataViz stepped up to the plate with a fully functional Word and Excel suite in Documents To Go. There are some features in this powerful suite that rival that found in desktop clients and not seen before in mobile clients. You can create, edit, and view Word and Excel files, including Office 2007 formatted files, with Documents To Go. Run, don’t walk and get this onto your Google Android device.

HTC continues to innovate and push Windows Mobile to the edge with their latest update to the HTC Touch Diamond lineup. The Touch Diamond2 brings a very high resolution 480×800 WVGA 3.2 inch display along with an update to TouchFLO 3D that has you zipping along in style. HTC continues to pack in all the latest wireless technologies in a super sleek form factor.

imeem is a social network that enables users to discover, interact and express themselves with media, including music, video and photos, and form connections based on shared tastes and interests. One of the main functions of imeem is the ability to stream shared music and now you can enjoy virtually unlimited streaming content on your Apple iPhone with imeem Mobile.

Evernote is a mobile application/service designed to capture notes, audio recording, and images of anything you want to later remember and access. Their amazing recognition technology allows you to search for text in images you capture and in handwritten notes so you always have ready access to information you need. Evernote is available for free across multiple platforms and this latest BlackBerry client lets you easily create and access notes on the go.

T-Mobile has had the Sidekick lineup for about seven years now and the devices do quite well with the heavy text messaging crowd, especially when it comes to teenagers. I had my 15-year old spend the first 3 days with the Sidekick LX 2009 and asked her a few questions about her experiences. I plan to spend the next couple of weeks with the device, but check out some of my first thoughts and images in this gallery.

Quickoffice has been around for years and is the default Office suite found on Nokia S60 devices. They too this expertise and created a functional iPhone client. The current version does has a few issues that should be fixed with a future update, but it is worth the $20 if you need to work with Office documents on your iPhone device. They now have clients for Palm, BlackBerry, and Android devices too.
