Amazon just started shipping the Amazon Kindle 2 to buyers last week. In their February launch event they mentioned that the Kindle software with Whispersync would eventually come to other devices. Well, that time has come MUCH sooner than anyone anticipated and you can now download the software and read Kindle books on your Apple iPhone or iPod touch. Amazon just changed the game when it comes to ebooks and sets the new standard for ebook content.

The Amazon Kindle 2 was recently announced and is now shipping to consumers with a sleek new form factor and some other hardware improvements to make it the most compelling ebook reader on the market. The Whispernet wireless service and on-device Amazon store front set the device apart from the rest of the pack, but there are even more subtle improvements that make this $359 device a must have for book fans and gadget geeks.

Manufacturers are continuing to improve the capabilities and functionality of feature phones and smartphones. Samsung and T-Mobile released the 8 megapixel Memoir that brings a powerful camera to T-Mobile. This high end feature phone supports T-Mobile’s 3G network, captures still photos with the Xenon flash, and functions fluidly with the touchscreen display and TouchWiz interface

Astraware is a well-known mobile game development company that has had Palm and Windows Mobile games for years. They decided to also expand to the iPhone/iPod touch and are launching games like crazy. I had the chance to play with five of their new games and posted a video and my thoughts on them to go along with this screenshot image gallery. As you can see they have excellent graphics in their games.

The news of Sony Ericsson’s entry into the Windows Mobile space was talked about quite a bit at Mobile World Congress 2008. Almost a year later this high end device is now available for purchase at a premium price. There are a couple unique features of the XPERIA, but you will have to be a serious Windows Mobile fan to pay the $800 selling price for such a solid product.

The Amazon Kindle comes with decent black leather case, but it doesn’t do a very good job of holding the device securely in place when the front flap is opened. There is also no backlighting on the Kindle so you need good lighting to read with the device. M-Edge has two solutions that integrate with each other to address both of these issues and I was pleased to finally find such an elegant solution.

The Nokia N85 is the first Nseries device to use an OLED display and it looks FANTASTIC. The N85 may be one of the best Nokia S60 devices and should replace the N95 as the most popular Nokia device in 2009. All I needed to see to convince me to purchase the device was the OLED display, but there is a ton more packed into the device too. Take a look at several photos of the device as I start working on my full review.
